Who can enter?

This competition is intended for those working and/or training towards relevant programmes of study in jewellery and silversmithing. The competition is open to the following level:

Advanced: those undertaking qualifications up to level 3 or up to five years experience in a working environment.

About the competition

This competition relates to those skills required in the manufacture of fine jewellery from precious metals. These skills have traditionally been referred to in the industry as ‘diamond mounting’. Competitors will take part in a two day practical competition, held at Birmingham City University’s School of Jewellery, in which they will manufacture a an item to a set project brief.

Competitors will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • Accuracy
  • Sawing
  • Soldering
  • Surface finishing
  • Use of time
  • Material wastage

Competition structure

Stage one: enter online by 19 March 2010

Stage two: submit and return the screening form.

Stage three: competitors that meet the required standard will be invited to compete at the UK final.

How many competitors can enter from each organisation?

Up to two competitors per organisation.
