Who can enter?
This competition is intended for those working towards relevant programmes of study in music. The competition is open to the following level:
Advanced: those undertaking qualifications up to level 3 or up to two years experience in a working environment.
About the competition
The Popular Music competition has been designed to reflect aspects of a musician’s work role. The competition will provide you with an invaluable opportunity to test your skills nationally against other students.
This competition will complement your training and preparation to be a musician. Competitors are expected to perform two tracks as a band.
Competitors will be assessed on the following criteria:
- Interpretation
- Performance
- Professionalism
- Originality
Competition structure
Stage three: highest scoring competitors across all heats that meet the required standard will be invited to compete at the UK final.
How many competitors can enter from each organisation?
Bands of between three and seven members. No more than two bands per organisation.
Competition partners:
The competition is organised by North Warwickshire and Hinckley College.
