Who can enter?

The competition is aimed at individuals working and/or training towards relevant programmes of study in landscape gardening. The competition is open to the following levels:

Advanced: those undertaking qualifications up to level 3 or up to seven years experience in a working environment.

About the competition

The competition requires trainee landscape gardeners to showcase their skills by building pre-designed units. The units may include timber construction, walls, fences, water features, paving, steps, turf and plants. Teams will be sent drawings in advance to allow them to prepare and practice.

Competitors will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • Accurate measurement, dimensions and setting out
  • Hard landscape construction
  • Vertical and horizontal construction
  • Soft landscape construction
  • Timber construction
  • General impression
  • Health and safety
  • Work process and time management

Competition structure

Stage one: enter online by 19 March 2010
Stage two: competitors compete in a live heat.
Stage three: highest scoring competitors across all heats that meet the required standard will be invited to compete at the UK final.

How many competitors can enter from each organisation?

This competition is for teams of two competitors. Each organisation may enter one team per level.
