Who can enter?

This competition is intended for those working or training in the construction industry. Each competition can be entered by apprentices and those on full-time courses that lead to technical certificates. The competitions are open to the following levels:

Intermediate: those undertaking qualifications up to level 2 or up to three years experience in a working environment.

Advanced: those undertaking qualifications up to level 3 or up to five years experience in a working environment.

About the competition

Competitiors will undertake a series of practical tests based on the workplace which will demonstrate their abilities and highlight their outstanding skills in the roof slating and tiling industry.

Competitors will be assessed on the following criteria:

All trainees will be expected to be able to follow drawings, measure accurately, effectively plan their time, demonstrate competence with tools and keep work stations clean and tidy. Also, they will have to demonstrate the following skills:

• Batoning onto roof
• Cut and lay tiles to size
• Use of different tile types

Competition structure

Stage one: enter online by 19 March 2010

Stage two: highest scoring competitors across all heats that meet the required standard will be invited to compete at the SkillBuild 2010 UK final over a three day national event in September 2010.

In the spirit of SkillBuild, the national final is an opportunity for all involved to celebrate excellent in construction training.

How many competitors can enter from each organisation?

There are no restrictions on the number of competitors that can be entered.
