Who can enter?

This competition is intended for those training or working as beauty therapists. The levels of entry are:

Intermediate: those undertaking qualifications up to level 2 or up to two years experience in a working environment
Advanced: those undertaking qualifications up to level 3 or up to four years experience in a working environment
 

About the competition

At each level the competition focuses on the role and tasks of a beauty therapist. This includes carrying out a range of treatments which reflects both current and traditional beauty therapy treatments.

Competitors will be expected to demonstrate their skills in:
Intermediate: warm waxing, manicure and facial plus day make-up.
Advanced and Higher: consultation, body faradic treatment, full body massage and facial galvanic treatment.

Competitors will be assessed on the following criteria:

Competitors will be assessed on their performance in each of the tasks, plus their health, safety and hygiene practice. In the advanced competition, competitors will be expected to demonstrate their theoretical knowledge by responding to questions on each task.

Competition structure:

Stage one: enter online by 19 March 2010
Stage two: competitors will be invited to participate in a live heat.
Stage three: highest scoring competitors across all heats that meet the required standard will be invited to compete at the UK final.

How many competitors can enter from each organisation?

Up to one competitor per level per organisation.

The competition is organised by the Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT).
