Holistic Therapy: Aromatherapy
 

Who can enter?

This competition is intended for those training or working as aromatherapists. The competition is open to the following level:

Advanced: those undertaking qualifications up to level 3 or up to four years experience in a working environment.
 

About the competition

The competition focuses on the role and tasks of an aromatherapist. This comprises of client consultations to elicit information about clients’ health and medical history, followed by exploration of clients’ lifestyle in order to identify appropriate and effective treatments. Competitors are then expected to demonstrate their therapeutic skills in selecting oils and carrying out a full aromatherapy massage.

Competitors will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • Health, safety and hygiene
  • Consultation
  • Selection and blending of essential oils
  • Aromatherapy treatment
  • Aftercare

Assessment will be by observation, examination of the consultation card, and questioning as required to demonstrate appropriate theoretical knowledge.

Competition structure

Stage one: enter online by 19 March 2010
Stage two: competitors will be invited to participate in a live heat.
Stage three: highest scoring competitors across all heats that meet the required standard will be invited to compete at the UK final.

How many competitors can enter from each organisation?

One competitor per level, per organisation.
